"Slip of the Tongue" is a video set to a spoken word piece by Bay Area poet/performer Adriel Luis that looks at perceptions of beauty, ethnicity, and body image. Karen directed the short in 2005, and it is featured on our Factory II DVD.
The film has played in over 30 festivals internationally and was broadcast on UPN. It has won numerous awards, including a regional Emmy, a Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival, the Jury Prize from Media That Matters, a Golden Space Needle Award from the Seattle International Film Festival, the Audience Award from Project Youthview, and Best Experimental Youth Work from Hamptons International Film Festival.
